Old Stuff : New Life

It’s no secret that Brett and I have an affinity for discarded old tools, rusty “furniture”, and forgotten items of the past, so every opportunity we get to sift through someone’s “old pile of junk” usually involves us returning home with at least one new-to-us treasure that we’re totally giddy about.  Last weekend when we went to Rocky Mount to move the letterpress, we actually came home with over a dozen items that we’re stoked to reintroduce into daylight and use regularly.  Not bad, right?!  Here’s four that I just had to share with you….

How cool is that milk crate?  How rad are those lockers? The crate will be super useful for collecting our various outdoor tools and I’m even contemplating how to work it into the flower arrangements at the wedding.  And the lockers… believe it or not, after a good scrub down, those are going in the house!  We desperately need an organization system for all our tools (the current “station” is in disarray and I can never find anything!) and these lockers have just enough compartments to do the trick.

We also found quite a few lawn + garden items, like a couple saws and some other woodworking tools for Brett, as well as this:

This watering can was just too charming to pass up and I can assure you he will be put to good use around our yard! But as far as watering apparatus go, there was a clear winner for the weekends finds…

When I discovered this ancient craftsman brand sprinkler I thought for sure there was no way it still worked.  Who in their right mind would consider this junk if it was still in working condition? BUT…  when we plugged it in, not only did it spray, but it spun like it was brand new!  This hard working sprinkler has taken up residence in our garden and there he will stay for many months to come.

What’s been your best ‘junk’ find this year? Do you have any favorites?
